Sewer Line in the Yard gets Clogged

When the sewage and waste water leaves from under your house in the sewer lines, it runs across the yard and then drops into the City main line.  The sewer lines in your yard, especially on an older house, often are made of concrete.  Even if your pipes are plastic (PVC) they can be infiltrated by roots from trees and bushes over time.  Once roots get into the line they will impede the flow of sewage and papers and cause a backup which can be minor or major.  The major backup will usually be when you are having guests over and fixing a big dinner when all of a sudden the kitchen sink and bathroom toilets won't flush.

A plumbing company like Church Services can come out and 'snake' your lines in order to get some relief.
